Ogunquit Maine Family Photos are always fun! But sometimes, kids just want to have fun. (Girs too, but that’s not what this is about) … It’s not easy being a kid. The adults want you to do one thing, and you’re just figuring out how to do your own thing. Why do they keep telling you what to do? It’s hot. And there aren’t any snacks! And you just want to run and throw rocks and eat lion cookies!
and.thats.ok!
There’s always a little compromise (or bribing..whatever you want to call it) when it comes to the late toddler early childhood-ness of photos. They’re finding their independence and then this strange lady shows up with this big object and you’re expected to perform. All the grownups act a little strange and you just want a damned lion cookie.
guess.what!?
Have the cookie! There’s no need to stress out or apologize. I’m totally in tune with the way kids express themselves and have a few tricks up my sleeves. If all else fails, I’ll hide in the bushes while you interact and the little ones can be none the wiser. All else doesn’t usually fail though and there’s no end to the silliness I’ll try to get a smile.
This little man was SUCH a trooper. And his family was super awesome. It was really hot in the scheme of things and kids just don’t understand why they’re uncomfortable. We bonded though. First, the lion cookies helped me take the photos. Rawr. Then they were guests in the pictures. And then, when all was said and done, he got to cool down with a popsicle. I was actually “done” when that happened and on my way to the car when I spied him and mom sitting in the shade being as cute as could be. He was all of a sudden super chatty and smiley and I had to gently put the camera back into action while we talked.
Oh, and as a side note, this stone beach?! My ideal way to visit the ocean!
