Have camera. Will travel. When I got the request to photograph Kirk & Tim’s Florida Same-Sex Wedding, my eyes immediately welled with tears. Tears of happiness, tears of nostalgia, and tears of gratefulness that this thing that I do allows me such an intimate front row seat to an important moment in a couple’s lives. And in this couple, one of those people is so important to who I am today! I could probably write a novel on just knowing Kirk and all the small moments that his kindness and friendship impacted the trajectory of my life. But this post is about him! And the man he’s head over heels in love with (and the feeling is definitely mutual) – Tim!
Their weekend adventure was perfect, start to finish. A get-together welcome gathering amongst the palm trees and a private dinner party for the key players. Getting ready together, straightening each other’s suit coats. And then off to the amazing venue – Town Manor! Right on the lake, with incredible grounds and a view of the sunset. And one of the most interesting things I’ve seen to date – a rehearsal right before the wedding! This not only encourages a first-look and spending more of your day together, but seemed to help the ceremony go more smoothly since they had all just practiced what they were going to do! It gave me the opportunity for some extra shots of the little ones and the laughter while figuring it all out, too.
Their wedding was filled with special touches and tributes – including each of the groom’s boutonnieres being their mother’s favorite flowers, and pieces of Kirk’s mother’s veil incorporated into all the flowers.
I met some amazing people and experienced the warmth and truth of their love. The change of scenery from cold barley spring NH wasn’t too bad either 😉
I could wax poetic about them indefinitely but I’ll leave it here. Enjoy these images and the story they tell. (And make sure to look for the most epic cousin recreation picture of all time)
ps – I adore you two <3
