Before I share this NH newborn photography at home – Here’s a thing about me:
I only have 2 photos of me pregnant – both in the last 4 weeks. One is at my baby shower, on Mother’s Day. It was 90 degrees an 300% humidity. I’m flushed, and sweaty. But I love that photo. The second is one where my dad is hugging me about a week later. It’s busy in the background and I’m sucking down a bottle of water, but there’s that baby. Front and center.
Granted, I was pregnant nearly 20 years ago now (HOLY EFFING SH|T) and a maternity session wasn’t a thing, but I wish it had been. I cherish those two literal snapshots of that time.
I highly encourage maternity photos.
You may worry you don’t look your best, but allow yourself to feel the beauty in the power of growing a human being!
I equally as firmly encourage you to be in a few newborn photos.
So what if you look like you just had a baby. YOU DID. So what if you haven’t slept in a week. THAT’S HOW IT GOES.
You’re a wonder. You’re strong. You are fierce. Record that.
This newly minted family of three did just those things, and can guarantee that 1, 5, 20+ years from now they’re going to be so grateful for a visual reminder of this time in their lives.
Oh, and I highly encourage props if that suits you. Especially if it’s a giant bottle of maple syrup because you and your friends like to boil your own.
(But pro-tip on that one – a cold bottle of syrup is not cuddly for a newborn baby, so use an empty bottle and fill it with warm water!)
