Libby’s Bridal Shower 06.21.09

Bridal showers are so much fun — Sarah of I Do. Weddings was throwing one for her sister Libby and I was so excited to have her contact me and ask me to photograph this stunning event! The room at The Brookstone Event Center was set up gorgeously. Sarah had thought of every detail and the staff at the center executed it wonderfully!

I loved the greens and browns — everything was so ‘earthy’ and beautiful.

The guests were each greeted with this program of events and a run down of the activities. By far the most fun was the “What’s in the purse” game. It was a riot to see everyone going through their bags and running out to their cars to see who could get the most points.

These two were trying to plan their attack on how to get the most points.

Lipstick, Calculator…

In the end it was the eyelash curler that took the game.

Sisters: Sarah, hostess, MOH and Libby, guest of honor, bride!

Then it was time to open gifts! Its quite the bar set she’s acquiring!

Libby has a great smile and fantastic laugh.

And the ability to fit her entire body in a gift bag!

I wish I could remember what she was pretending to roll out here… my bad for waiting so long to blog the event!!

Very studious and dedicated guest making a fabulous practice bouquet (I thought)

This was the BEST gift. In advance Sarah had asked all the guests to submit their favorite recipe and a photo if they could. Sarah then had them all made into a hardcover cookbook for Libby and gifted it to her at the shower. This page was “take out”, which I thought was the best thing ever.

So remember the ‘bouquet’? Turns out it was actually a hat. Libby wore it well!

Then, the funniest thing yet I’ve seen at a shower. This woman — I think its her aunt — was writing down random quotes from Libby as she opened her gifts and she made it into a sort of dirty madlibs. I hope Libby saved it because it was (as evidenced below) seriously one of the most amusing things. I was in tears I was laughing so hard.

In all it was a great event. Sarah was seriously meticulous in her planning and every one had a fabulous time — the words of wisdom journal was filled with heartfelt blessings and advice and Sarah carried out the natural earthy theme beautifully.

She even planted one of these plants for ever guest as a favor. a-mah-zing!

Thank you so much Sarah & Libby for having me at your event! I loved all the thought you put into everything and learned a lot of new ‘tricks’ for future bridal showers!

Katie & Shawn 11.11.08

Katie & Shawn found me through Monica & Rob. Shortly after Monica received her photos Katie emailed me and told me of her super secret surprise wedding. I was so excited to hear about her plans and thrilled I was able to be a part of everything. The premise was that their family was coming to their house for their wedding shower. What the didn’t know, was it was really their wedding day!!

I met them at their house and the girls and I headed down to the salon. Zoe wasn’t so sure about curling irons and hair-do’s but being a princess isn’t easy work so I found a photo of Belle for her to focus on while the hairdress gave her a flowergirl hair-do fit for a princess!

I’m not sure if Katie was looking at a photo for inspiration too?

Almost done — so beautiful!

Katie wasn’t almost as done — too funny!

Seeing the finished flowergirl!

GORGEOUS

The staff at the salon were great — A little makeup for the princess :)

This was their cake topper, and I guess Zoe decided that they were lonely so they got a my little pony to keep them company. It was so adorable.

Katie & Shawns rings — and the beautiful necklace they bought Zoe to remind her of that amazing day.

Katie & Shawn’s gifts to each other.

I love this shot — do you see Zoe’s little eyes peeking through?

And then, it was time for the guests to start and the surprise to come!

Zoe has some awfully cute cousins.

Perfect!

Melissa!!! Shawn and I just sat through and looked at all the pictures and I don’t think thank you could ever be enough. The pictures are amazing and everything you did to save the day was equally amazing. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts and thank goodness there are people like you who truly put their hearts in what they do. Thank you so much again, Shawn and Katie

Katie & Shawn I wish you all the luck in the world! It was wonderful to be a part of your day!

Taylor & Keith’s Wedding Shower 09.14.08

It’s a very strange thing to see my baby brother prepare to be married. But he met his match and they are in it for the long haul. To start off the celebrating we had a shower for them at my mothers house. Cake, babies, presents & family. You can’t get much better than that!

My grandfather and my brother’s son and Killian, and the bride to be Taylor holding my cousin Reed.

My brother, getting in my shot.

Daddy and boy playing music, a very common site.

Reed — the cupie doll with the eyes and curls to melt your heart (just wait till you see his halloween shoot!)

My grandmother

Present time — they got quite a haul of household goodies.

The picture that my son drew for his first day of 3rd grade about what he would be doing this year. He was the ringbearer in the wedding so he drew a picture — he asked what their colors were (since it was the 3rd wedding he was in in 6 months) and I told him green and white, so he designed her a fantastic dress!

We had a great time — the wedding photos will be posted soon!

Rachel’s Bridal Shower 07.19.2008

Rachel is graced with amazing friends and family — when I first met with her and her mom, her mom asked if I would take pictures at the shower also, and I was happy to. Little did I know what a gorgeous affair it would turn out to be! Every detail was stunning, including the favors. Her sister, a bartender in Vegas::Baby:: made a bar menu using photos of Rachel & Michael (some from their engagement shoot) and special drinks like “Love Potion #9″. They were an absolute hit and everyone raved about the books & the drinks!

I got a bit out of control with my fascination with the Martini glasses — I’ve always always loved these in the stores and to see them all lined up like this, well, I got a little carried away!

Kim (Rachel’s mum) has the most amazing garden — I couldn’t help but snap some flower shots! The sky was intense also — and the air thick with humidity — which ultimately lent itself to a heck of a thunderstorm, but we were all safe and dry in the tent!

The food spread was AMAZING. Kim told me it was part of my job to eat, so I made sure to load up a plate (ok, twice) and enjoy!

Two of Rachel’s bridesmaids are pregnant! All of them are Gorgeous.

Present time! (And also when the rain started to come down)

Great food, Great desserts, Great drinks, Great times! Then all the girls went out to the mini house that was built for Rachel when she was a little girl for a group shot :)

“Melissa your photos are amazing, I can’t tell you how pleased we are!! I have given out your website to all the other teachers and everyone is raving about your work. I will be calling you soon to finalize an order. Thank you so much!!” ~ Kim

Rachel & Kim — thank you for opening your home to me and including me in such wonderful festivities! I can’t wait for the wedding in September!

Kim sent me a note in the mail too — “Your work has allowed the family to have memories that will never fade. Thank you, Kim”

I’m certain it doesn’t get much better than that.
Rachel also wanted a few shots done for her memories — of the Wentworth where they got engaged, and where we did the engagement shoot — and also of the Colony where the reception will be. She also loved the idea of having their names written in the sand on the coast, so I gathered up my things and headed off on an adventure.

Rachel ended up ordering 4 of the beach shots as matted 12x18’s they looked SO AMAZING all matted and ready for shipping — I hope they look as good framed in their new house!

Hi Melissa, I received the pictures today they are beautiful!!!!” ~Rachel

Erica’s Baby Shower

Erica’s Maternity Shoot was a few months back, and she’s been talking about doing another, however I had to keep mum about her baby shower that was held this past Saturday the 9th, so I waited to make plans with her. With only 6 weeks left, she looks GREAT and was very excited about her friends and family gathering for her party! Her two closest friends also had beautiful baby boys in the past 3 months. I just love a baby shower where I already get to hold a baby!
