Business of the Year Awards 03.24.11 | Exeter, NH Event Photographer

I really enjoyed myself at last year’s Business of the Year awards, I was excited to shoot this years’. I was even more excited, and humbled, to be a nominee as well! While I didn’t win, I had a lot of fun putting together my entry.

From the Chamber Press Release: The Chamber’s 2011 Business of the Year Awards Presentation & Cocktail Reception presented by Comcast was held before a sell-out crowd on Thurs., March 24 at One Liberty Lane Office and Conference Center in Hampton.

An enthusiastic crowd enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and cocktails from Galley Hatch Catering and celebrated as this year’s winners were announced.

One Liberty Lane looked amazing!

Vendor booths were set up providing the honorees and guests an opportunity to meet and chat with some of the areas business.

The evening started with a few words from Chamber President Mike Schidlovsky

And then Kellie Farrar from Coaching+, one of last years recipients, took over as the head of Ceremonies and introduced each category and reasons why the winner was chosen before revealing who had taken the title.

Real Estate/Construction/Engineering: Emanuel Engineering, Inc.

Manufacturing/Technology: Northeast Lantern, Ltd.

Education/Non-profit less than 25 employees: Exeter Historical Society

Education/Non-profit 25 or more employees: Seacoast School of Technology

(you may recognize this place.. I talk about it sometimes.. I also took a lot of the photos he used in his submission. haha) Tourism/Hospitality: The Tavern at River’s Edge

Retail Wholesale: TIED – Cookies by Design Exeter and Cornucopia Wine & Cheese

Health Care: RiverWoods — My favorite part of Cathy’s acceptance was the heartfelt thanks that some of the residence of the facility gave to her when Riverwoods won.

And the winner’s of the category I was nominated in were the well deserving Business & Trade Services: F.W. Webb Company

But I had him in my corner — and that’s way more than I needed. That post-it says “I vote for Mom

In addition, the Chamber’s newly established Lori Breard Achievement in Leadership Award was presented to Exeter Bowling Lanes and Shooter’s Sports Pub owner Robert Ficara of Exeter. Ficara, an active Chamber member, was presented the award by Pam Cameron and Breard’s daughter Hallie Estle.

Robert Ficara was awarded the honor for his many attributes that epitomize the inspiration and example set by Breard. They include: a high level of professionalism, leadership, integrity combined with a down-to-earth approach to life; a positive attitude; and active mentoring. Also, Ficara is a strong business leader and active community member.

Ficara is an active member of the Chamber for many years, volunteering on a host of committees over many years including: the Ultimate Sports Ticket Raffle, Small Business Showcase, Sweepstakes, Fall Festival, Bruins Alumni Benefit Game and Chamber Children’s Fund. Hosting networking events, sponsoring annual events and serving at one time on the board of directors have also been part of his Chamber participation. His contributions to the community extend well beyond the Chamber, from annual fundraisers to operating two well-loved local businesses.

Rob was so genuinely touched and unsuspecting I don’t think there was any one in the room that wasn’t a little emotional at the amazing person Lori was, and that her daughter Hallie embodies, and how deserving Rob is of this award.

Congratulations to all this year’s award recipients!

Darcie: Class of 2011 | Hampton, NH Senior Photos

Darcie is absolutely adorable — full of personality and smiles. She also introduced me to Fuller Gardens in Hampton — all these years living here and I’d never been. Being the first week of October we’d missed “peak” but what was there was stunning and I can’t wait to go back this summer and see it in full bloom!

Thank you so much Darcie for asking me to shoot your senior photos! I hope senior year is going smoothly :)

Lockner Family 10.02.10 | Hampton, NH Family Photographer

There are only a few ways to say it — I love my job. For the 3rd year in a row I got to meet up with this awesome family and have some fun.

The boys are getting so big!

Still Hugging <3

Deep in thought.

They really are such a great family.

So in love with each other and their boys — this must be where they learned the hugging from ;)

I wish for everyone to have photos of them as kids being silly with their parents.

And sharing moments like these.

Thank you, again!

Awesome pics, its going to be tough to decide on just a few to hang on the walls. ~ John

Rachel & Jason Married! 10.10.09

In Rachel & Jason’s engagement shoot post, I boldly stated “Rachel may well be the best thing that ever happened to Jason”. I’m positive that it is true. It was finally wedding day for these two and after I finished Nicole & Jay’s e-shoot I cleaned up, charged up & headed over to the Ashworth to meet Rachel.

Hello dress. You’re lovely!

Jason is part of the Air National Guard so Rachel had a little surprise for him to go with her “something blue”.

Strike a pose.

The flower girls were ADORABLE. I couldn’t get enough of their dark eyes & curls! This little one was very very very intent on helping with the dress. She did a great job!

But it was definitely a team effort. :)

Perfection! And the colors in the flowers are just stunning.

Off they go!

And off I went and found Jason patiently waiting. (And looking very dapper!)

They were so serious about their job! The little one was so worried about keeping her flowers in the basket beforehand she forgot to toss them when it was finally time. Too cute!

Shiny shoes, hidden tissues, and an awesome wood ceiling!

with this ring!

Their parents came up on ‘stage’ to wish them well - it was a totally unexpected overwhelmingly emotional moment (well unexpected for me :) )

Sealed with a kiss. Rachel is SO EXCITED!!

The Guard was there to give them a proper exit — - and if you look at the bottom photo carefully - a thwap on the bum for good luck!

Sunlight in October gets tricky so we rushed over to the pavilion to take some photos. It was getting very chilly very quickly though! They all found their own ways of keeping warm.

I’m pretty sure Rachel’s brother is stealing her warmth, not keeping her warm!

I’m also pretty sure that kissing keeps these two warm. That must be why they were doing so much of it! Right?! ;)

The sun was setting fast so after some family portraits inside the church they toasted and hustled into the limo (do the hustle do do do do…ok, nevermind)

We tried to beat the sun to the beach but it just wasn’t happening. Thankfully, my Canon 5DMII had come in the day before and with the help of light for night construction on the beach & my 50mm 1.4 we still found a patch of sand to make their journey from engaged to married by the beach complete!

First dance! I love how they touch foreheads.

Ok, so I posted this photo on facebook as a teaser because it was just so sweet it made me tear up. While, as I was going through picking blog photos and saw it again, there were full on tears. Because..well… they love this little girl SO much, you can just see it. And in 12+ weeks, they’re going to have their own little girl to love!! (ok, crying again. sheesh!)

You may recognize this butterfly masked boa guy from last week’s wedding as the best man .. or you might not. That was probably his plan. Oops, sorry Randy!

Ok, so, after the parent dances and “formalities” of the event were done, it got weird. Um, sir, you dropped your cell phone.

No — really weird — like everyone was kung fu fighting — -

And this guy was on the floor again.…

And Randy was… shuffling off to buffalo? The flower girls seem very amused with him though..

Aside from all the crazies (and I say that with love) Rachel and Jason still found a few more moments to blissfully revel in their new relationship status & the family there to celebrate with them!

I’m so happy to know Rachel & Jason. And I’m so excited for the new little one coming to the be the “other best thing that ever happened to Jason!”

Stay tuned for more from these two this year!

Emily’s Senior Pictures 09.19.09!

When I met up with Emily for a quick senior session at the beach — we didn’t count on the gale force winds. Emily was a supermodel though and she didn’t let it phase her one bit!

Way to sass it Em! I love love love the photo on the right — its on my new discount/business cards.

I love this weathered bench.

Due to my blogging deliquency Emily has since graduated from High School and I’m sure she’s ready to tackle whatever life throws at her!

Congratulations Emily!

Rachel & Jason E-pics 06.04.09

Rachel may well be the best thing that ever happened to Jason. And I say that because Jason and I went to HS together and although I barely knew him then, I’m quite positive he’s more himself now than ever!

After being rained out over and over we made last minute plans to meet at the beach just before sunset one afternoon because the sun was shining THAT MINUTE and we were hopeful it would hold out an hour or two more.

Well it most certainly did and we had a great time traipsing along the beach & the strip!

Rac_Jas_Epic_001

I love the retro fun feel to this one!

This is Rachel’s favorite. I told it was because it was quintessential New England.. a Dunkin Donuts on every corner!

This one just speaks for itself I think.

Rac_Jas_Epic_064

check & mate!

And here’s where I found their true trust and commitment.. to me. We pulled over on the side of the road and traipsed inside this field of daisy’s that was just a triangle divider in the road. It looks like we’re off somewhere fabulous and romantic though!

Rac_Jas_Epic_086

My absolute favorite of the session. I would make this a big canvas!

Rac_Jas_Epic_093

My other favorite — Rach just looks so peaceful and happy!

Rac_Jas_Epic_109

Not only did we get sun, we got sunSET! Happy Day! Take that rain!!

Rac_Jas_Epic_102

I adore Rachel & Jason — the second they got engaged Rachel came down to our local tavern and walked in and said YOU’RE GOING TO BE OUR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER. How could I say no to that!!??

I’m definitely looking forward to their October wedding!

Hi Melissa!.. The pictures came out really good!!! There are a couple that we really love!! Thanks so much for the great time! Can’t wait for the big day! ~Rachel
